"Unthinking respect for authority is the
                greatest enemy of truth..."
               - Albert Einstein

On January 12, 2000, Sheila's late husband, Dean, was killed in a work-related fatality. Determined to discover the accurate details resulting in his death, her suspicions escalated when she attained conflicting and questionable information from all agencies involved - including Occupational Health and Safety.

Sheila’s persistence for nearly four years produced vital reports from the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act, including the last piece of evidence she needed - a statement from a company involved blatantly admitting their negligence.   Yet, no one has been held accountable.

Dean’s death is an example of the gross injustice that many Canadian families face today - even when a company’s negligence is a clear admission of fault, they are not held accountable due to the Canadian laws that protect them.

Hurried Words
by Jamie Sams

"The rush of explanation
Stifles the fullness to be gained,
When slick, unfounded patter
Seeks to befuddle the brain.
But words that speak of feelings,
And of the patterns we weave,
Leave all conclusions open,
Without trying to deceive.
Those who share their story
Are the messengers that we meet,
Who show us some alternatives,
Instead of bowing to defeat."
